Catania was founded by a group of Greek colons in the VIII century b.c., today the city looks prominently Baroque due to the catastrophic heart quake of 1693 which almost entirely destroyed it. It took a whole century for the city to be completely rebuilt.

Where the art of Baroque shows at its finest through the exquisite palaces of the nobility, the gorgeous churches and convents. On June 26th 2002 Catania was declared Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO and joined the "World Heritage List".
